Republican lawmakers have been hesitant to hold town hall type meetings with their constituents due to a number of hostile crowds that have been showing up for them.
Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) faced shouts of “Do your job.” from angry protesters at his town meeting. Similarly Representative Tom Reed (R-NY) faced angry protestors at his public meeting. Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) had a police presence at his town hall which he said was to “prevent acts of violence” from angry protestors. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) also faced protests at his town hall meetings.
Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) acknowledged that there was “outrage” at his town hall meeting from constituents. Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) faced angry questions on her repeal of Obamacare in hers. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) faced an angry constituent whose question went viral, and protests at his meeting as well.
