Former campaign advisor and longtime Trump confidante Roger Stone denied any contact with the Russian State, Russian Intelligence or anyone fronting for them or acting as intermediaries for them. Stone said, “”None. Nada. Zilch. I am not in touch with any Russians. don’t have a Russian girlfriend, don’t like Russian dressing and have stopped drinking Russian Vodka.”
However Stone has admitted to exchanging messages privately on Twitter with hacker Guccifer 2.0, who is an alleged cyber spy linked to Russia and is thought to be involved in hacking Democratic National Committee emails. Stone said the contact was “innocuous.”
Stone released a screenshot of his conversation with Guccifer 2.0 in which Guccifer stated, “i’m pleased to say u r great man.”, “please tell me if i can help u anyhow.” and “it would be a great pleasure to me.”
Stone defended the contact and why he hadn’t mentioned it stating, “It was so perfunctory, brief and banal I had forgotten about it.”
